Adam and Eve,Ying and Yan,Martians and Venusians or simply Man and woman-Whatever you believe in, God created two halves that compliment each other(and drive each other crazy:P)!
But rules are meant to be broken right?or are they?
The Supreme court of California passed "Proposition 8" a law that deems Gay marriages illegal.Prop 8 had mega stars like Brad pitt, Ashlee Simpson,George Clooney,Pete wentz,Natalie Portman rallying against it!
The question is this and individual's preferences and if so,does the government have the right to endorse or condemn it?
Each person is given a right to choose his food,the way he dresses, his religion and so many other mundane aspects of his life, so why should he not have a choice in sexuality?Why is it so taboo?
And why-o-why should they be judged on that?
Case in point:Adam Lambert:Adam got a standing ovation from the "oh! I'm Harichandra's cousin"Simon Coweel himself,gave a new flavor to so many routine songs, had an effervescent personality,dressed in a fashion forward manner(ok! thats subjective)and clearly blew everyone away! but come the finale and rumours that he was a closet gay guy became rampant!That contributed to him to some level,losing the crown to the arguably less talented,but all american(going to church every sunday,boyish good looks,cute wife, soft demeanor) Kris allen.I've immense respect for Kris,in fact Kris was my favorite from the right begining, but all said and done,Adam was the better singer! It's a shame that he had to lose because of something intensely personal which had as much to do with his vocal abilities as Octomom does to decency(I hate that B!tch)!Alright there is no tangible proof that the fact that he might have been gay had anything to do with Adam's loss but hen again even for such a speculation to arise should make us as a human community bury our heads in the sand!
Whether a person is for or against homosexuality is one thing but whether they should judge gay people because of that is a whole new question all together!
Wikipedia defines marriage as-"Marriage is a social, religious, spiritual, emotional and/or legal union of individuals that creates kinship." does it say anything about man woman? niet!
Marriage is a celebration of one persons love for the other.period.Why should two men or two woman not be allowed to that freedom to declare their love?Do "till does do us part,or for better or worse or in sickness and in health" apply for only the conventional marriages?Which brings us to the question of why a gay marriage must be deemed "Unconventional"?People talk about segregation on the basis of caste all the time! atleast that's something a person is born into! But Being gay is just a choice,like chosing your favorite color or football team!
The passing of prop8 may not be the final nail in the coffin of hatred towards homosexuals but it's damn well close to that!
